KHUZDAR: The ringleader of kidnappers was killed and a member of the Levies Force was injured in heavy exchange of fire during an operation launched by security men here on Thursday against kidnappers.

Khuzdar Deputy Commissioner retired Major Bashir Ahmed told a press conference here that the operation had been conducted by the Levies Force in the presence of the main accused who was involved in killing of Hindu trader and kidnapping for ransom of several other people, including a senior lawyer, and looting of passengers of a bus.

“The accused was the ringleader of the kidnappers’ gang, which was involved in heinous crimes,” he said, adding that Levies Force, headed by Assistant Commissioner Munir Ahmed Soomro, chased the kidnappers. He said the kidnappers opened fire on members of Levies Force and the LF returned fire, killing the accused. One Levies Force personnel Mohammad Arif was injured in the exchange of fire.
