PESHAWAR: The National Awami Party (Wali group), the Jamiat-ul-Ulema-i-Islam and the PPP in NWFP have endorsed the proposal for appointment of a civilian Governor and nomination of civilian Ministers in the NWFP as an interim arrangement till full-fledged democracy is restored. The President of the Sarhad NAP (Wali group), Arbab Sikandar and Maulana Ghulam Ghaus Hazarvi, Secretary-General of the West Pakistan JUI, are agreed that such appointments be made in consultation with the majority parliamentary party. The PPP had earlier endorsed similar views.

Close circles of these intending partners in coalition here are confident that “these parties when formed into a coalition party in the provincial legislature will effect a solid unity of purpose which will not in any way affect adversely their constitutional, economic and political policies”.

They predicted that similar unity may also be definitely achieved in Baluchistan. These circles have described the proposed alliance between the three parties as quite optimistic paving the way for progressive forces in the Frontier to unite. They agree that “Khan Qayyum and his party should never be allowed to get into power in the Frontier”.
