SUKKUR: The local chapter of Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) held a general workers’ meeting here on Monday to discuss the unrest prevailing in their ranks over transfer of Syed Khursheed Shah, the former leader of the opposition in the National Assembly, to jail from the National Institute of Cardiovascular Diseases (NICVD).

Mr Shah was shifted to jail on a recent court order.

PPP city chief Mushtaq Surhio presided over the workers’ meeting, which was attended by MNA Nouman Islam Shaikh, adviser to the CM Barrister Arsalan Islam Shaikh and Sukkur’s former deputy mayor Tariq Chauhan, besides other party leaders and workers.

The meeting condemned shifting of Mr Shah to jail and decided to hold protest demonstration in the city on Tuesday (today).

They described the veteran politician’s arrest in NAB case and incarceration as political victimisation of opponents on the part of PTI government.
