ISLAMABAD: The Capital Development Authority (CDA) on Monday said that it had sealed 15 commercial buildings in Banigala and Kuri areas, which were being constructed without the civic agency’s approval.

The civic agency’s enforcement directorate also conducted an operation in sector F-13 and razed an unauthorised market. The press release while explaining operation in Bani Gala and Kuri area said the commercial buildings were sealed for carrying out illegal constructions without the CDA approval.

“The building control department took timely action and not only stopped the construction work but also sealed the buildings,” read the press release.

Meanwhile, CDA’s enforcement wing carried out an operation in sector F-13where “an illegal plaza with 30 shops and a new illegal under-construction market were demolished with the help of heavy machinery,” read the press release.

In addition, four kanals of government land was retrieved. The sector F-13 was acquired in 2008, however, the CDA is yet to pay compensation to locals to get complete possession of land. “Protection of government lands is our top priority,” the press release said, adding that CDA has been conducting operations against encroachments and illegal constructions in the Federal Capital, which has resulted in the retrieval of billions of rupees of government land, it said.
