BAHAWALPUR: The Old Students Association of the Government Sadiq Dane (SD) High School has expressed concern over the deteriorating condition of the 120-year-old building of the historic educational institution.
The association in a statement impressed upon the local lawmakers and the district administration to take serious notice of the poor condition of the building and approach the government as well as divisional and district administration for allocation of funds for its immediate renovation and restoration.
The association said the building and other infrastructure were in utter state of neglect as the education department had hardly paid any attention to their upkeep.
It said the ceilings of most of the classrooms were dilapidated and might cause an accident.
The association in its press release also pointed out that the underground sewerage system was in an extremely bad condition.
The association also drew the attention of all concerned towards the shortage of furniture in classrooms for about 300 students. Similarly, the staff room for 100 teachers was also inadequate.
It also demanded restoration of school’s historic clock tower.
