DERA ISMAIL KHAN: A police constable going to join polio duty sustained injuries when unknown attackers opened fire on him near Sidrah Mor area here on Tuesday.

An official of the Yarik police station said that unknown assailants opened fire on constable Mansoor Ahmed at Sidrah Sharif Mor as he was on way to Kotla Lodhian village from his house to escort an anti-polio team early in the morning.

The injured was immediately shifted to the District Headquarters Hospital, Dera.

Meanwhile, district police officer Najam-ul-Hasnain Liaqat enquired after the injured constable at the hospital and directed the police to arrest the accused as soon as possible.
