MULTAN: Ali Khan Niazi scored on the stroke of full-time at the Qasim Bagh Football Stadium as Sui Southern Gas ended their losing start to the Pakistan Premier League season with a 2-1 win over Muslim FC Chaman on Saturday night.

Star-studded SSGC, one of the favourites for the title, had lost their opening three games but Ali’s goal gave them their first points after Zain-ul-Abideen’s 43rd-minute opened had been cancelled out by Muslim FC’s Hikmatullah five minutes later.

Wapda top the early table with a maximum nine points from three matches, two ahead of unbeaten Lyallpur FC. Muslim are one of four teams with six points. This edition of the PPFL, the first in two-and-half years, is being organised by the court-elected Pakistan Football Federation led by Ashfaq Hussain Shah which is not recognised by FIFA.
