KARACHI: As many as 10 horses will battle it out for honours in the Independence Day Cup when the Gymkhana race meeting resumes after a break of three weeks at the Karachi Racecourse here on Sunday.

The last meeting was held on Aug 8 followed by a break due to first islamic month of Moharram.

The Independence Day Cup features prominently in a five-race card that has been drawn for the day. It is the last race of the program and will go over six furlongs in round bend.

The fourth and supporting race classified under scale order III and IV has only five horses who will contest over four-and-a-half furlongs. The opening race has 10 acceptors who will run over four furlongs.

Seven horses will face the starter in the second race while nine have entered in the third. Both the races will be run over four-and-a-half furlongs.

Altogether, 41 horses will make their presence felt in the races barring last minute withdrawal(s).

The first race starts at 3:00pm.
