RAWALPINDI, Nov 3: The Punjab government has ordered the release of 429 prisoners and remission in sentence of 501 on the eve of Eidul Fitr, official source said on Thursday.

The 429 prisoners released from the Punjab jails included 410 male, six female, 11 children, two aged man and woman.

The authorities also said that the 501 prisoners who got benefit of remission in their sentence included 465 male, 25 female and 11 children.

SHO SUSPENDED: The Punjab Chief Minister has ordered immediate suspension of SHO of the Sadiqabad police station, Rawalpindi, Suhail Akhtar Usmani for incompetence in the investigation of a kidnapping and murder of a college student whose body was found on Wednesday.

Sarfraz Ahmed, 17, a first year student of a local college,  was kidnapped from his house on October 28. His father lodged an FIR with the Sadiqabad police and identified the kidnapper but the SHO was reluctant to track down the accused.

The CM also ordered a departmental inquiry against the SHO.

Another boy has also been kidnapped from the jurisdiction of the Sadiqabad police, source said on Thursday. Danish Rehman, 17, left his house on Tuesday but did not return till night. His parents have lodged a complaint with the Sadiqabad police.
