KARACHI: A recently married couple was shot dead in the SITE area on Saturday, police said.

They added that Moosa alias Sher Zaman, 26, and his wife, Amna alias Rubi, 24, were gunned down at their residence near Sultani Masjid.

The bodies were shifted to the Abbasi Shaheed Hospital for medico-legal formalities.

Area SHO Zafar Ali Shah said that the couple had tied the knot around one month ago in MPR Colony of Orangi Town. They contracted the marriage of their own free will because of opposition by the woman’s family.

He said there were reports about a jirga held to settle the issue around 10 days ago, but it appeared that the woman’s brothers did not agree.

The SHO said on Saturday the woman’s brothers — Asad and Siddiq — barged into the couple’s home, fired at them and escaped.

Woman suffers acid attack

A 21-year-old woman suffered serious burns when her estranged husband threw acid on her in Baldia Town on Saturday.

Saeedabad SHO Shakir Husain said that the suspect, Syed Zeeshan, threw acid on Ramsha during a family dispute in Sector 9-C.

She was shifted to the Burns Centre of the Dr Ruth Pfau Civil Hospital for treatment.

The suspect managed to escape, the area SHO said.

According to Baldia SP Faizan Ali, the couple had tied the knot around two years ago. The woman used to make TikTok videos and she developed friendship with Zeeshan through social media and the couple got married.
