The Philippines health ministry has recorded 14,895 new coronavirus cases, the second highest daily increase in infections since the start of the pandemic, reports Reuters.
In a bulletin, the ministry said total confirmed cases in the country were 1.79 million, while deaths had reached 30,881 after 258 new fatalities were recorded.
Meanwhile, active cases have risen to a near four-month high at 111,720.
