Australia's New South Wales state, home to Sydney, has reported 452 new locally acquired cases of Covid-19, down from a record high of 478 a day earlier, as authorities battle to curb the rapid spread of the Delta virus strain, reports Reuters.
Health officials have also announced one new death from the virus, which has taken the total number of deaths in the state from the latest outbreak to 57.
