GUJRANWALA: The Dhullay police registered a case against eight people, including an MPA, on Monday for snatching 1,000 saplings collected for plantation.

Muhammad Irfan, employee of the PHA, submitted an application to the police that the PHA was to set a world record of planting 50,000 saplings of different fruits in one minute.

He said he along with other PHA employees was preparing for the purpose and fruit plants were being collected at Shaheenabad greenbelt when PML-N MPA Taufeeq Ahmad Butt along with seven accomplices snatched 1,000 saplings and fled.

Later, the additional district and sessions judge granted him per-arreset bail till Sept 4.
