Australia's New South Wales state has reported 478 new locally acquired cases of Covid-19, up from 415 cases a day earlier, as police begin to enforce tougher Covid-19 lockdown rules in state capital Sydney to contain an outbreak of the Delta variant, reports Reuters.
Authorities have also announced eight new deaths from the virus, taking the total number of deaths in the state from the latest outbreak to 56, the state's health department has said in a statement.
