TAXILA: The district health authorities on Friday transferred Hassanabdal Tehsil Headquarters (THQ) Hospital’s medical superintendent (MS) to Attock District Headquarters Hospital.

In a notification issued by district health authority, senior medical officer Dr Gullnaz Frooq has been given additional charge of MS of the hospital.

The transfer was made after the female staff went on strike followed by their male colleagues against MS of the hospital over duty roster and allegation of harassment. The protesting female staff submitted two different applications to the district health authorities as well as district administration against the MS.

Acting on the applications of the protesting doctors, two inquiries were conducted one headed by district health authority chief executive and the other by the Hassanabdal assistant commissioner. On the recommendation of the inquiry committee, Attock deputy commissioner approved transfer of the MS.

The outgoing medical superintendent of Hassanabdal THQ Hospital Dr Shehryar Iqbal rejected the allegation of harassment saying that he had made a duty roster to ensure that a female doctor was available in the hospital around the clock to supervise the labour room.
