Three killed on road

SHEIKHUPURA, Jan 23: Three people were killed while one sustained injuries in different road accidents on Wednesday.

Khadim Husain and his nephew Osman were on their way back home on the Sargodha Road when a loader (824-127 Karachi) hit them. Osman died instantly while Husain was taken to the Lahore Hospital in precarious condition.

Meanwhile, an elderly woman and her grandson were knocked down by a wagon on the GT Road near Ahmadpur, some 36km from here.

Zainab, 65, and Ali Raza, 9, were crossing the road. They died on the spot.

City Muridkey police are investigating.

SHOT DEAD: A man was shot dead by three armed men in Chitti Kohti area here on Wednesday.

Zaheer Abbas, who had recently been released from the District Jail, was on his way back home after meeting with his friend when the assailants opened firing on him. He succumbed to his injuries on his way to a nearby hospital.

Police claimed the motive behind the murder could be either robbery bid or enmity.

Investigation is underway.
