The Gilgit-Baltistan administration has imposed a smart lockdown in four districts of the region over surging cases of Covid-19.

The areas where the lockdown has been imposed are Aliabad and Gherlat in Hunza Valley; Madina Colony and Sika Maidan in Skardu; and Gopas, Bobar, Hathon and Phanda in Ghizer.

It also ordered that vaccination of all residents must be carried out before the lockdown is lifted.

The NCOC had on Monday announced "targeted and staggered" SOPs to curb the coronavirus spread including revision in market timings, two-day closure a week and operation of public transport with 50pc occupancy. The new restrictions were put in place for various cities and regions including Skardu and Gilgit Baltistan.
