Azad Jammu and Kashmir has reported the highest daily rise in Covid-19 cases since the pandemic began in Pakistan last year.

Over the past 24 hours, 356 new infections have been detected in the region, taking the tally to 24,501. This is also the second consecutive day that over 300 cases have been recorded in AJK, with 326 reported the previous day.

The region has reported three coronavirus-related fatalities over the past 24 hours. The death toll from the disease now stands at 625.

Meanwhile, Islamabad and Gilgit-Baltistan have collectively reported 455 coronavirus cases and five deaths.

A breakdown is as follows:

  • Islamabad: 395 cases, 2 deaths
  • AJK: 356 cases, 3 deaths
  • GB: 60 cases, 3 deaths
