SHEIKHUPURA, Oct 30: Nankana police recovered a six-year-old boy allegedly kidnapped ten days ago for Rs5 million ransom by three outlaws from Mandi Faizabad.

Briefing the media on the incident, District Police Officer Tahir Aalam Khan said the boy, Amin Khalid, student of class one, was playing in front of his house when the accused, later identified as Rizwan alias Badshah, along with his two other accomplices, kidnapped him on Oct 19.

Mr Khan said the accused took the child to More Khunda and detained him in the upper storey of a rented house. The mastermind, Rizwan, later contacted the boy’s father Khalid Javaid on his cell phone from a PCO situated in Lahore and demanded Rs5 million as ransom for his release. The accused warned the family that otherwise their son would be killed, the DPO said.

Later, two accused came to Lahore, from where they again contact the family and repeated their demand, while the third accused remained with the child in More Khunda, the DPO said. The boy’s family was in contact with Mandi Faizabad police and with Nankana Sahib DPO.

The drop scene of the incident came when the accused asked the family to bring the amount to a place near the Minar-i-Pakistan in Lahore, the DPO said.

The boy’s father went to the spot by a car, along with Shahkot SHO Inspector Jehangir But and Constable Zulfiqar, who was in the car’s trunk, the DPO said. He added the accused suspected that some plainclothesmen were also accompanying Mr Khalid and their mobile phone calls were also being recorded.

The abductors then directed Mr Khalid to change his car and hire a rickshaw to reached a place near the Lady Wellington Hospital. When he reached the said place along with the cash in a bag, the accused, asked him to throw the bag inside the hospital. The father threw the bag inside the hospital and the accused rushed towards the bag. Meanwhile, Inspector Jehangir Butt reached their and overpowered the accused, recovering the amount from him. The abductors tried to flee from the scene, but the police team, chasing the accused, identified one of them and succeeded in tracing the house where the boy was kept, the DPO said.

Later, the arrested accused were presented before the journalists. The ringleader, Rizwan alias Badshah, told the media men he was facing financial and domestic problems and was eager to go abroad but owing to lack of money he could not realize his ‘dream’. He added that he made the plan with the other accused, Imran and Nadeem, who ran their business in the same market. To a question Badshah said it was his crime.

The recovered boy was also brought before the journalists who identified the accused.

The DPO said Sheikhupura Range DIG Pervez Rahim Rajput had taken keen interest in the recovery of the boy and arrest of the criminals. Punjab IG Major Zia-ul-Hassan Khan (retired) announced commendation certificates and cash prizes for the raiding party members.

The DPO was flanked by Investigation DSP Shamsul Hassan Shah, Inspector Jehangir Butt, Mandi Faizabad SHO Rana Nadeem Yaseen, Investigation in charge Muhammad Arshad, and Mangtanwala SHO Ahmad Yar Sayal.
