KARACHI, Oct 30: The president of Hamdard Foundation Pakistan, Sadia Rashid, said that Shab-i-Qadr was the occasion when the first ever verses of the Holy Quran were revealed to Our Holy Prophet Hazrat Muhammad (Peace Be Upon Him) in the cave of Hira.
She said this in a statement highlighting the significance of this 27th night of the holy month of Ramazan.
Ms Rashid said that Pakistan came into being on this very night of Ramazan 27, 1366 Hijra, which is the Hijri equivalent of August 14, 1947.
It was not a mere coincidence but the will of Allah Almighty that this country be blessed and should grow according to ideals of Quaid-i-Azam, so that it could become a role model for the entire Muslim Ummah, she added.
Ms Rashid said that it was therefore, Hakim Said’s wish that Ramazan 27 should be recognized as the Pakistan’s Independence Day and be celebrated as such.
The Hamdard Foundation chief said that the Oct 8 earthquake caused great misery and loss of lives to the people besides property and infrastructure in the northern parts of Pakistan.
This is a cataclysmic event in Pakistan’s history and Hamdard Pakistan shares the national grief and the misery of the quake victims by applying its best efforts to provide medical services and relief to them, she added.—APP
