OKARA: A seven-year-old girl died and another was injured when a swing they were enjoying at a recreational facility collapsed here on Friday.

Several children were playing in the park along Okara-Faisalabad Road when a swing dismantled and collapsed as a result of which Robina and Nawabi, daughters of nomadic families, fell and were critically injured. They were shifted to the city DHQ hospital where Nawabi succumbed to her injuries while the other girl was in a critical condition.

Chief Officer Rana Naveed and Tehsildar Javed Virk reached the spot after the incident. The swings proprietors escaped.

Deputy Commissioner Muhammad Ali Ijaz cancelled the permission letter issued to the organisers of the family festival.

Chief Minister Usman Buzdar has taken notice of the incident and sought a report from the commissioner and the regional police officer, Sahiwal.
