OKARA: Seven people died and 21 others suffered injuries in two accidents.

A Lahore-bound bus overturned near Al Jehad check post on GT Road when its tyre burst as a result of which commuters, mostly from Bahawalnagar and Fort Abbas, suffered injuries late on Monday.

The Rescue 1122 ambulances administered first-aid to the injured and shifted the bodies of deceased Sahar Taj, Muhammad Imran, Haji Talib Hussain and a motorcyclist to hospital. Eighteen injured people were shifted to the DHQ Hospital while three to Combined Military Hospital, Cantonment.

In the other incident near 38/GD village about 15 kilometres away from here, a wagon hit a motorcycle. Afzal, Qulli and Marshal Masih, teenage friends, died on the spot. The Rescue 1122 shifted the bodies to the DHQ hospital.

COP INJURED: A police constable was shot at and injured by suspects on GT Road.

According to the FIR, constable Muhammad Sultan was on way to DPO office when he saw people chasing two suspects near poultry farm stop on GT Road. He chased the two motorcyclists who shot at and injured him.

Police shifted the injured constable to the DHQ city hospital and registered a case under section 324 of PPC.
