Protest against power failure

NAWABSHAH, Oct 29: Residents of the Nawab Wali Mohammad village of the Qazi Ahmed taluka staged a demonstration on Saturday in protest against frequent power breakdowns.

Speaking on the occasion, Allah Rakhio, Mansoor Lakho and Shahnawaz Khaskheli said that power fails for five to six hours daily in the area.

They said the residents and Tailors were facing problems and suffering financial losses.

DESILTING: The Nusrat irrigation authorities have said that the removal of silt from the Gajrah canal will be completed by November 1 of this year at a cost of Rs5.5 million.

Executive Engineer Ishtiaq Memon and Assistant Engineer Zulfiqar Sehto told a team of newsmen during the visit to the Gajrah wah on Saturday that removal of silt from 18.28 miles of the wah and six miles of the Chan Babu distributary would be completed by using 15 machines.
