LAHORE: Brothers Muzammil and Mudassar along with Mohammad Abid and Heera Ashiq completed the men’s singles’ last-four lineup in the of the New Khan Punjab Open Tennis Championship here at the Punjab Tennis Academy, Bagh-e-Jinnah on Tuesday.

While three of the quarter-finals were easily decided, Heera was stretched to the distance by a spirited Nalain Abbas before winning 4-6, 6-2, 10-2.

Abid blanked Hassan Raza 6-0, 6-0, Muzammil overpowered Imran Bhatti 6-4, 6-3 and Mudassar Murtaza crushed Irfan Mughal 6-1, 6-1.

In the men’s doubles quarter-finals, Muzammil and Mudassar defeated Aqeel Sarfraz and Shayan Tariq 6-3, 6-4, Imran Bhatti and Hamza Jawad edged past Nalain Abbas and Shaeel Durab 7-6, 6-2 while the duo of Irfan Mughal and Hassan Shaukat trounced Hassan Riaz and Yousuf 6-2, 6-2.

In the boys’ under-18 quarter-finals, Ahtesham Arif beat Muneeb Majeed 8-5, Hamza Jawad annihilated Aized Khalil 8-0, Arman Kamran defeated Zaeem Ghafoor 8-3 and Asad Zaman routed Ryan Munsif Khan 8-0.

In the quarter-finals of the boys/girls under-14 event, Nabeel Ali Qayum beat Eesa Bilal 8-0, Amna Ali Qayum whipped Abubakar Khalil 8-0, Abdullah Pirzada overcame Abdur Rehman 8-2, Zohaib Afzal Malik defeated Abdur Rehman Pirzada 8-2, Zeerak Mustafa edged Aalay Hasnain 8-6, Asad Zaman blanked Inam Bari 8-0 and M. Sohaan Noor thrashed Talha Tarar 8-2.
