DADU: Reinforcements from several police stations of this district had to be sent to Aminiani village of Dadu taluka to get freed their fellows — one ASI and five constables — who were overpowered and captured by outlaws on Saturday.

ASI Asghar Shah along with his five subordinate constables were trying to track down unidentified criminals who had taken away five goats from Changia Panhwar village earlier in the day. Footprints of the thieves and goats led the police team into Aminiani village but it was attacked and overpowered by suddenly emerging armed criminals before they could reach the thieves.

The assailants manhandled the policemen after snatching their official weapons and held them hostage until a strong contingent of police surrounded the entire village and got them freed.

Two separate FIRs against four suspects including Nadeem, Shahan and Aqib Khokhar were registered.

Dadu SSP Aijaz Ahmed Shaikh said three suspected criminals were arrested and a hunt for “actual ones” was under way.
