KHAIRPUR, Oct 28: Follo-wing the killing of six people by a gang of bandits, teachers of 10 primary schools (boys and girls) have not been doing their duty for the last four days.

These schools are: Khoh Wali Mohammad, Gahi Maitlo, Kadan Fakir, Khuda Bux Maitlo, Gamchi Maitlo, Reliae Maitlo, Saeed Khan Maitlo and Bhanki Maitlo.

A teacher, Ghulam Moha-mmad Maitlo, told reporters here on Friday that in the Government High School Mahessar Wada there were about seven HST and JST teachers but they were not reporting for duty due to fear of being arrested by police.

He said that the police had arrested an on-duty primary teacher Abdul Sattar Maitlo from the Government Primary School Aslam Mahessar about four days ago.

He said that all the schools in the clash-hit area and about 80 per cent teachers of the Maitlo biradari were also facing the same situation.

He appealed the DPO Khairpur to provide protection to them against police excesses so that they could attend their schools.

ROBBERY: Five armed men robbed 22 passengers of a wagon on Thursday evening.

A wagon was on its way to Khairpur from Sukkur. When it reached near the Babarloi chowk, the bandits took control of the wagon and robbed the passengers.

Later, they disembarked on the Gambhir link road near Khairpur and fled.

DCO: The DCO Khairpur inaugurated an Eid Bachat Bazaar at the Chhatti chowk here on Friday.

The bazaar has been set by different NGOs wherein about one dozen stalls have been set up which offer items of daily use including cooking oil, flour and sugar at cheaper prices than market.
