KARACHI: A 45-year-old married woman was found dead with a slit throat in Azizabad on Wednesday, said police.

They added that the body of the woman, Najma Hanif, was found from a home in Block-3. The corpse was taken to the Abbasi Shaheed Hospital for medico-legal formalities.

Area SHO Farrukh Hashmi said that a blade was also found near the body.

He said crime scene investigators had arrived and they were collecting evidence.

The officer said that it would be determined after a proper investigation whether the woman had committed suicide with the blade or she had been murdered.

Protest against robberies

Transport operators on Wednesday blocked a main road in Mauripur against rising incidents of robberies in the area.

Police said that unidentified armed men had looted Rs500,000 from the truck stand near gate No 3 in Mauripur.

The truck stand transport associations’ members staged a protest on the road against the robberies which caused suspension of vehicular movement on both tracks of the road causing traffic jams.
