KASUR: Police on Tuesday sent four people, out of 11, wanted in a gang-rape case, to the district jail for an identification parade.

The Sheikhum police booked an ASI for lodging a gang-rape case after five weeks of the incident on Monday.

The ASI was posted at the same police station and a case under section 155-C (breach or neglect of any provision of law) of thee Police Order of 2002 was registered against him.

The FIR states ASI Muhammad Rizwan showed her the gate when the survivor went to the police station to get her complaint registered and later slapped her when she insisted on action.

The IGP ordered an inquiry to fix responsibility for delay in registering the case.

The additional inspector general was monitoring the investigations. According to the survivor, she was traveling to Haveli Pharianwali with three of his relatives on two motorcycles.

Near Pharianwali, their motorcycle broke down, when three suspects held them at gunpoint. One of the rapists introduced himself as a cop and took them to the nearby orchards, tied three of her male relatives with ropes and took her to a cottage. Later, seven more people joined them and all of them gang-raped her. The suspects also claimed that the accused also shot footage of the incident.

The Kasur police denied the involvement of any cop in the incident. All the suspects in the FIR are unidentified. Police, however, denied that the arrests were being made to satisfy the high ups.

ROBBER KILLED: A robber was killed while another suffered injuries in an exchange of firing with villagers at Mandianwala village on Tuesday.

Eight people were performing volunteer duty as guards at the village in Pattoki police jurisdiction when a gang of six robbers came there and held up three of them. The others raised an alarm as a result of which several people got up and opened fire on the robbers.

A police team also reached the spot when it learnt about the incident.

As the guns went silent, police recovered the body of a suspected robber who was later identified as Anwar, a resident of Toba Tek Singh.

The villagers said another suspect suffered injuries during an exchange of firing but the robbers took away their injured accomplice.

ROBBERIES: Four robbers shot at and injured the driver of a coal trader and took away Rs3.5 million on Ahlowala Road on Tuesday.

Robbers stopped trader Naveed Butt when he was leaving a kiln near village Talwandi after receiving cash payment of coal. His driver Muhammad Azhar put up resistance and he was shot at and injured. The robbers fled with Rs3.5 million.

In another incident, two robbers stormed Mushtaq’s house at Gulshan Subhan Colony village and shot at him on resistance.

The injured was taken to the THQ Hospital where he was stated to be critical.
