HYDERABAD: Services of former advocate general Yousuf Laghari for the motherland during struggles against One Unit, Kalabagh dam project, Movement for the Restoration of Democracy (MRD) and other burning issues of Sindh were eulogised at a programme held at the local press club under title Ishq jo safar: Yousuf Laghari ayeen Sindh. It was organised by the Hyderabad Union of Journalists (Afzal Butt group).

Speakers, including Yousuf Shaheen, G.N. Mughal, Prof Aijaz Qureshi, Lala Rehman Samoon and Sohail Sangi, paid rich tribute to Mr Laghari’s services and said he always stood for Sindh and was still struggling for the motherland.

The audience was told that Advocate Laghari played a positive role in Jam Saqi, plane hijacking, Ayaz Samoon, Tando Bahawal, Ghanghra Mori and other high-profile cases.

It was noted that Mr Laghari was not only a political activist, but also a noted columnist and had received presidential award for his column.
