The Federal Directorate of Education (FDE) has notified the promotion policy for students of classes one to eight applicable to schools in Islamabad.

According to a letter sent to the heads of all Islamabad model schools and colleges, there will be no annual examinations for grades 1-7 and all students will be promoted to the next class. However, four formative/classroom assessments per subject will be conducted of each student and kept in the school record.

Additionally, instead of a centralised exam, there will be an in-house exam for class eight to be conducted by the respective institutions.
