BAHAWALNAGAR: Haroonabad Saddar police on Monday booked two men for allegedly raping a divorced woman and threatening her with dire consequences if she revealed it to anyone.

According to the first information report, ‘A’ of Chak 2/1R had been living alone with her three-year-old son after getting divorce from her husband ‘Z’ of Bahawalnagar through court two years back. The FIR said three months ago, ‘N’ of the same locality entered her house, allegedly raped her and later threatened her with dire consequences if she talked about the incident.

Later, a local landlord ‘I’ also allegedly raped the woman but the family [living nearby] kept quiet because of fear and humiliation. However, when she got pregnant, the family contacted the police and informed them about the incident.

The police have registered a case against the suspects under Section 376 of PPC on the complaint of the victim.

Saddar SHO Bashir Ahmed said medical examination of the victim confirmed that the woman was expectant. Police were raiding to arrest the suspects.

Meanwhile, Saddar police claimed to have arrested a teenager accused of raping a 10-year-old boy in Haroonabad on Monday afternoon.

According to the police, 17-year-old ‘S’ of Chak 18/1R lured a 10-year-old ‘S’ into a house where he allegedly raped him. On the minor’s hue and cry, locals rushed to the spot and shifted the boy to hospital while the suspect managed his escape.

Locals alerted the police who captured the suspect after some effort.

DSP Haroonabad Gul Hasan told Dawn that the suspect confessed to the crime and a case under sections 377 and 377B of PPC was registered against him.
