ISLAMABAD: The city managers have decided to set up a walk-through history museum at H-8 which will be inaugurated on Independence Day this year.

The walk-through museum, which will have around two dozen pictures related to Pakistan Movement, will be set up near the Federal Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education, where the national flag is already installed on a tallest poll.

“We have a large abandoned open space near the national flag site. So, I have directed the concerned wing to set up a walk-through museum to highlight the struggle of our nation for creation of Pakistan,” said CDA Chairman Amer Ali Ahmed.

He said the museum will likely be inaugurated on August 14, adding it is the responsibility of the CDA to provide maximum platforms to the children to make them aware of the sacrifices of our forefathers in creation of Pakistan. He said the museum will be an entry-free facility.

In 2014, the CDA through a government contractor hoisted the flag on a 220-foot-high pole. According to the CDA, the flag-poll is the tallest in South Asia.

CDA officials said former prime minister Nawaz Sharif decided to install the tallest flag post in Islamabad after seeing a 207-foot-high Indian flag in Dehli in 2014.

“The open space adjacent to the flag will be developed into a park and converted into an outdoor museum with no walls and ceiling.

The concept behind is to develop a walkway around which actual photographic images from Pakistan movement with particular reference to the sacrifices rendered by our forefathers will be displayed,” said a press release issued by the CDA.The CDA said it would seek the services of renowned artist Aftab Changaizi who has to his credit many important projects such as the National Heritage Museum, Folk Heritage, National Monument Museum, Army Museum Rawalpindi, Army Museum Lahore and Senate Museum among others.
