KARACHI: A man shot dead his wife and her mother over a domestic dispute in Landhi’s Sherpao Colony on Saturday, police said.

They added that the suspect, Ishaq Khan, killed his wife, Ramsha, 22, and her mother, Kausar Riaz, 50, and fled.

Quaidabad SHO Ghous Bux said that the suspect had warned his wife against going out without his permission and talking to anyone over the phone, after which she had left his home and came to her parents’ home.

On Saturday, Khan went to his in-laws to pacify her but she refused to go back. The husband got enraged and fired at her. As her mother came to her rescue, he also opened fire on her and fled.

Both mother and daughter suffered critical bullet injuries and were shifted to the Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre (JPMC), where doctors pronounced them dead on arrival.

The caretaker of a dargah and a faith healer are gunned down in the Garden and Ibrahim Hyderi areas

Man shot dead in Garden

A 70-year-old man, said to be the caretaker of a dargah, was shot dead in the Garden area on Saturday. Police said that Qari Abdul Sattar was gunned down by armed pillion riders at Ghausia Masjid.

The victim was the caretaker of Arab Shah Dargah in the area.

The body was shifted to the Dr Ruth Pfau Civil Hospital Karachi for medico-legal formalities.

The police were investigating the matter to determine the exact motive behind the killing.

‘Faith healer’ killed in Ibrahim Hyderi

A 57-year-old faith healer was shot dead in Ibrahim Hyderi on Saturday.

Police said that Ghulam Yaseen was gunned down by unknown suspects at Chashma Goth.

The police said that the victim was a faith healer, who originally belonged to Punjab.

The police suspected some personal enmity behind the murder.

The body was shifted to the JPMC for a post-mortem examination.

Body found in gunny bag

A young woman was found murdered in the Quaidabad area on Saturday.

Police said that the body of an unidentified woman, aged around 20, was found stuffed in a gunny bag near Old Ice Factory, Kashmiri Mohalla. It seemed that the body had lain there for around five to six days, they said.

The corpse was shifted to the JPMC for a post-mortem examination. The identity of the victim could not be ascertained till late in the night.

Suspect killed in ‘encounter’

A suspect was shot dead in an alleged police encounter in PIB Colony on Saturday.

A spokesperson for the East zone police said that acting on a tipoff, the police conducted a raid at the Isa Nagri graveyard, where two suspects resorted to firing and the police returned fire.

As a result, one of them, later identified as Bakhtiar Ali, 32, was killed while his accomplice, Abdul Rahim, managed to escape.

The spokesperson said that the killed suspect was a ‘notorious’ drug peddler, who was wanted in over 21 criminal cases.
