MUZAFFARGARH: An elderly couple of Muzaffargarh has invoked the Parental Protection Ordinance, 2021, and got their son punished.

Additional Deputy Commissioner General Ehsanul Haq told reporters on Friday it was a tragedy of our society that some people misbehaved with their parents, tortured them and evicted them from their homes. On which the government issued Parental Protection Ordinance 2021, for the protection of parents.

Muhammad Iqbal and Ghulam Fatima, of Mauza Latkaran Basti Chah Bhakkarwala, on the outskirts of Muzaffargarh, petitioned Deputy Commissioner Amjad Shoaib Khan Tareen that their son Mukhtiar Hussain’s attitude towards them was not good. He beat, tortured and kicked them out of the house a year ago.

Ghulam Fatima used to make a living by working in different houses while Iqbal is a challenged person.

On which the DC summoned Iqbal, Ghulam Fatima and their son Mukhtiar to his office, listened to their views and gave the parties an opportunity to settle among themselves.

Mukhtiar sought forgiveness from his parents but they were not ready to forgive him.

The DC sentenced Mukhtiar to one-month imprisonment and a fine of Rs50,000 under the Protection of Parents Ordinance 2021 and handed over the house of Iqbal to the Civil Line police.
