Says India trying to misuse FATF meeting for

political purpose

ISLAMABAD: Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi has said that as Pakistan has fulfilled 26 out of 27 requirements of the Financial Action Task Force (FATF), there is no justification for the country to remain in the grey list. In a statement issued here on Wednesday, the foreign minister said Pakistan had fulfilled maximum technical requirements of the FATF.

A five-day virtual meeting of the FATF began on June 21 in Paris and it will make its findings public on June 25.

Mr Qureshi said that India was making attempts to misuse the FATF forum for political purposes and doing continuous propaganda against Pakistan.

He said Pakistan had taken concrete steps to curb money-laundering and terrorist financing in the national interest.

The foreign minister said that the world was now acknowledging Pakistan’s efforts for implementation of the FATF Action Plan.
