Published October 27, 2005

KARACHI, Oct 26: The Institute of Business Administration has decided to award an honorary doctorate degree to Abdul Sattar Edhi for his services to humanity. A decision to this effect was taken at a meeting of the IBA Board of Governors, which met on Wednesday, with Director Danishmand in the chair.

The members noted that Mr Edhi was a highly respected and much appreciated name in the history of the country.

“He, who established a network of branches for providing care to orphans, the homeless, the injured and those affected by natural disasters and accidents, is a living legend and his work is not occasional,” it was observed.

The IBA academic board had recommended that in order to respect his dedication to the cause of boundless human suffering, Abdul Sattar Edhi be awarded a degree of Doctor of Social Services Management (honoris causa).

Mr Danishmand said that the degree would be conferred on Mr Edhi at a convocation planned to be held in November.
