KARACHI: President of the SITE Association of Industry Abdul Hadi has said that the Sui Southern Gas Company Limited (SSGCL) has suspended gas supply to the SITE area, crippling production activities and hitting timely shipment of export goods.

He said the industries had first experienced a gas shortage in the last one week and now the supply of gas from the utility company had been suspended.

In a statement, Mr Hadi urged Prime Minister Imran Khan and Federal Minister for Energy Hammad Azhar to take notice of the non-supply of gas, which had led to the closure of many industries.

“The gas pressure is constantly zero and despite repeated complaints to the SSGCL, the gas pressure has not been improved,” he said, adding that the SSGCL had said that it might take two to three more days to improve the gas pressure.

He said he feared that if export orders were cancelled, the entire responsibility would be on the SSGCL.
