Kamran inspires SP

KARACHI, Oct 25: A brilliant 74 by Kamran Hussain inspired Sindh Police to a comfortable 27-run victory over the hosts in an inconsequential match of the 20th Karachi Gymkhana Ramazan Cricket Festival on Tuesday.

Kamran hammered nine fours and one six during his 59-ball innings to help Sindh Police post 240 for five. Shujaat Ali also batted well to contribute a 55-ball 70 that included eight boundaries.

Karachi Gymkhana, in reply, made 213 for eight despite a good hand of 76 by Nadeem Musa.

Both teams, however, are out of reckoning since the quarterfinal line-ups are already confirmed. Pak Gymkhana face Tapal CC in Wednesday’s last league fixture to decide who finish as Group ‘D’ champions.

The other six teams in the last-eight stage are A.O.CC, Cantt Sports, Sui Gas CC, Customs CC, Omar CC and MHCC.

Summarised scores:

SINDH POLICE 240-5 in 25 overs (Kamran Hussain 74, Shujaat Ali 70, Akif Alvi 27); KARACHI GYMKHANA 213-8 in 25 overs (Nadeem Musa 76, Azhar Hussain 34; Zeeshan Aziz 2-31, Shujaat Ali 2-24).

Wednesday’s fixture: Pak Gymkhana v Tapal CC.
