PESHAWAR: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government on Thursday announced that the primary and middle schools across the province would be closed today (Friday) and tomorrow (Saturday) due to the ongoing heat wave.

It said a final decision on the matter would be made on Sunday.

According to a notification issued by the elementary and secondary education department, the primary and middle schools will remain closed on Friday (June 11) and Saturday (June 12) and the decision on the commencement of classes will be made on Sunday (June 13).

However, the public and private higher secondary and high schools in both summer and winter zones will remain open from 7am to 10pm.

The notification said the students of classes from 9 to 12 would be taught only those subjects in which they would appear in board examinations.
