KOHAT: The Kohat Chamber of Commerce and Industry on Thursday demanded of the government to allocate sufficient funds in the upcoming budget for promotion of industries. The demand was made at a consultation meeting with the adviser to chief minister on excise and taxation, Khaleequr Rehman.
It also urged finance minister Taimur Saleem Jhagra that unjustified taxation should be ended and the fruit of paying taxes should be visible on the ground.
According to a statement issued here, former KCCI president Rasheed Paracha and members Vaqas Paracha, Arshad Hayat, Rashid Bangash, Waheed Ahmed and Mehmood Ahmed attended the gathering. Saarc chamber vice-president Senator Ghulam Ali, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Public Procurement Regulatory Authority director general, provincial secretary finance, FPCCI vice-president and other leaders of the business community were present on the occasion.
The business leaders from Kohat urged the government that unnecessary taxation should be ended and notices should be served through WhatsApp instead of sending teams with police who harassed them.
ARRESTED: The Kohat police on Thursday arrested a proclaimed offender wanted by the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa counter-terrorism department (CTD) in cases of kidnapping for ransom from the posh KDA Town.
In an intelligence-based operation the police surrounded a house and arrested the proclaimed offender, identified as Mohammad Riaz of Garhi Atta Khan.
