TAXILA: Two persons were killed in separate incidents in the Hazro police station area on Tuesday.

In the first incident, the body of a man was found from a water channel in Ghourghushti area and was shifted to a local hospital.

Later, the deceased was identified as Zayyad Khan in his mid-50s.

Police while quoting the family members of the deceased said the man was mentally disturbed and fell into the stream accidentally.

In the second incident, a boy drowns in river Indus in the same police station limits.

Police said that Sameer Khan went to the river for bath where he drowned. Later, his body was retrieved by local rescuers.

Respective police have registered two separate cases and started further investigation.

13 suspects held

Attock police have arrested 13 outlaws including two proclaimed offenders.

Police spokesman said that Attock police arrested two motorcycle thieves. The same police also busted two female pickpockets red handed with the help of CCTV cameras who were stealing cash from a female shopper in Meena bazaar.

During a crackdown launched against the drug smugglers, Rangoo police arrested Mohammad Azeem and recovered 1.10 kilogram hashish from his possession.

Moreover, Hassanabdal police arrested a proclaimed offender wanted in robbery and murder case.

Bhattar police arrested a suspect wanted in attempted murder case.

Separately Jand police raided a gambling den and arrested six persons.

Meanwhile, at least eight prisoners in Attock Jail, who were doing time for petty crimes, were released on orders issued by an additional district and sessions judge who carried out a surprise visit to the jail on Tuesday.

Additional District and Sessions Judge Irfan Ahmed Sheikh ordered release of eight prisoners on personal bonds, so they could go back home to their families.
