Champions feel heat

KARACHI, Oct 23: Defending champions Peshawar endured a torrid day as Faisalabad strengthened their position in the Quaid-i-Azam Trophy Gold League fixture at the Arbab Niaz Stadium on Sunday.

The hosts were in trouble at 80 for three after Faisalabad, the last season’s runners-up, carried their overnight score from 270 for four to 482 all out on the second day of the four-day clash.

Ex-Test paceman Fazle Akbar, however, stood out with excellent figures of seven for 84, but found no support from the other end as Ijaz Ahmed Jr (83 with nine fours and two sixes) and Ahmed Hayat (67 with 11 fours) added 119 for the seventh-wicket.
