Olazabal romps to 5-stroke victory

PULA (Spain)Oct 23: Jose Maria Olazabal claimed his first victory since the 2002 Buick Invitational when he romped to a five-shot win at the Majorca Classic on Sunday.

Starting the day one ahead at the Pula course he has been re-designing, the 39-year-old Spaniard ran away from the field with four birdies in six holes from the fourth and eventually finished with a four-under 66 for a 10-under total of 270.

Storm stops play

LAKE BUENA VISTA (Florida): A host of players were stalking clubhouse leader Rich Beem when a storm stopped play in the third round of the Funai Classic Saturday, but Tiger Woods wasn’t among them.

Among the players who turned around to start the third round, Beem was red-hot. He birdied the 17th hole and parred the last in a nine-under 63.
