FOR the last few months there is some issue with the quality of eggs available in the market. The high-quality eggs are available at Rs190 per dozen and the low-quality ones at Rs120. But both categories have the same problem; when broken in the frying pan, the egg yolk breaks up and spreads all over, giving an unwanted shape and texture to the egg.

As it has now become a consistent characteristic of fried eggs, one wonders if there is something wrong with the quality of eggs. In fact, are they even safe for human consumption?

The poultry farm owners owe an explanation on the matter and unless it is done, we may stop buying eggs in the larger interest of our families’ health.
