LAHORE: Inspector General of Punjab Police Inam Ghani has directed regional police officers (RPOs), district police officers (DPOs) and other field police officers to improve their performance.
In a video link conference on Thursday, the IGP directed the additional inspector general (investigation) to oversee the investigation of other heinous crime cases such as robbery, murder, rape and gang rape and kidnapping for ransom. He sought from him weekly reports.
Mr Ghani directed the special branch AIG to prepare reports of illegal business of drugs in the province.
The same should be sent to the RPOs and DPOs concerned to take action against drug dealers, the IGP said.
He further said that District Monitoring Units should be set up in districts of the province on the pattern of Regional Monitoring Units.
These officers will be responsible to ensure close digital monitoring of investigation of all registered cases.
He directed the police officers concerned to contact the applicant filing complaints on the Prime Minister’s Portal to take feedback on the action taken by the police of the respective districts.
The police service centers are an important means of providing fast-track service delivery to the citizens and RPOs and DPOs should review the working of their service centers and wherever there is a lack of resources or facilities, it should be met immediately on a priority basis.
He said RPOs should send the detailed report of the working of service centers of their district to the central police office on a monthly basis.
