The National Command and Operation Centre (NCOC) reviewed the strategy of non-pharmaceutical interventions (NPIs) being enforced with a special focus on the opening up of the tourism sector from May 24 (tomorrow).

In a press release, the forum urged the public to follow a "safe tourism" policy. A comprehensive monitoring mechanism has been devised to ensure that SOPs are being implemented in true letter and spirit.

In a special session chaired by National Coordinator Lt Gen Hamood Uz Zaman Khan, the forum also reviewed the inbound travel policy and added certain countries to category C which would be implemented from May 26 (Wednesday).

"Stringent SOPs for verification of disease status of inbound passengers are in place. In view of increasing positive cases being reported in passengers from UAE and Bahrain, PCR results from only authorised labs will be accepted," the press release said.
