LAHORE,  Jan 22: Pacer Jaffar Nazir claimed a hat trick as Sheikhupura registered a 40-run win over Rest of Punjab on the penultimate day of the Quaid Trophy match at Gaddafi Stadium Tuesday.

Jaffar, who claimed four for 49 in the first  innings, finished with five for 48 in the second innings.

Jaffar’s hat trick came in his fifth over when he removed Sufian Munir, Aamir Bashir and Kashif Naved.

Sheikhupura, who had gained a lead of 40 runs on the first innings, were set Rest of Punjab a target of 169.

Rest of Punjab, however, were all out for 128 despite Mohammad Fazil making an unbeaten 44.

Jaffar got fine support from fellow paceman Rana Naveed-ul-Hasan, who took two for 30 in the second innings.

Earlier, Sheikhupura were bowled out for 128 in their second knock having resumed at the overnight score of 52 for four.

Punjab medium-pacer Asim Butt bowled economically to claim four for 11 in 9.1 overs. Former Test leg-spinner Mushtaq Ahmed also captured four wickets, giving away 37 runs.
