BAJAUR: The district administration on Saturday forcibly closed several private schools in Bajaur tribal district for violating the government’s instructions to remain shut till June 4 to help prevent the spread of Covid-19 in the region.
A team of officials accompanied by police personnel closed seven private schools located in different areas of the district, according to a statement issued from the deputy commissioner’s office.
It said the officials took the action following information that several private educational institutions in the district had been operating despite closing orders in place since the second week of April.
The statement said the officials first asked the managements to close their institutions voluntarily, but they refused, which led to their forcible closure.
The officials warned the managements of strict action if they tried to reopen the schools.
