Three shuttlers advance

LAHORE, Oct 22: Three Pakistani shuttlers moved into the next round of the Indian Satellite international badminton tournament in Delhi, according to a message received on Saturday.

Omer Zeeshan, Amir Islam and Zafar Tasneem all three won their matches.

Omer defeated Indian Bhanu Partap Tripathi 15-3, 15-2.

Aamir got the better of Mehala Indra of Nepal 15-7, 15-8.

Upcoming Zafar Tasneem put up the best performance when he beat Kharbada of India also in straight game 15-9, 15-8.

Pakistan’s top seed Wajid Ali is seeded No 3 in men’s singles and Tahir Ishaq/Mohammad Waqas are seeded No 3 in mens’ doubles.

It is the first occasion when Pakistani players had been seeded in an international tournament in which players from Indonesia and Malaysia are also taking part, Naqi Mohsin, the Pakistan Badminton Federation senior vice president said.
