Hadi not to contest for fourth term

Published January 23, 2002

KARACHI, Jan 22: The Pakistan Bridge Federation (PBF) has received 19 applications for the seven positions for Management Committee but its popular president Khurshid Hadi will not be standing again for the top slot after having held the office for the last three years.

The previous elections were uncontested and a lot of persuasion was needed for Hadi and his committee members to accept the responsibility and continue in the interest of the game. He however will continue to assist the new committee at all times.

Under Mr. Hadi’s leadership the federation was registered as a legitimate body, held several successful tournaments including the SAARC regionals, participated in all zonals, the Bermuda Bowl and ladies and juniors world-wide.

The elections are scheduled for next Sunday and the new committee would be required to immediately organize Pakistan’s participation in the SAARC regionals in Kathmandu at the end of March and in case Bangladesh declines, the BFame zonals later this year.
